ELK RUN 5K

Location: Crested Butte, Colorado
Event: Kara's USATF Teammate, 2017 World Champion Steeplechaser Emma Coburn, hosted a charity 5K in her hometown, and Kara decided to run! Training for an endurance event all September was out of her comfort zone, but overall a great experience for a good cause, with amazing views and company! See Kara's photos on Instagram.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK

USOC EVENTS

Location: Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center and surrounding venues
Event: Kara has the privilege of representing the USOC at various functions on Training Center property as well as in beautiful locations around the Springs.
IAAF ZAGREB WORLD CHALLENGE
Date: August 29, 2017
Location: Zagreb, Croatia
Event: For the first time in a long time, this excellent meeting hosted women's javelin throwers. Kara finished fifth with a 60-meter effort, her third in a competition that week!
LAPPEENRANTA
Date: August 26, 2017
Location: Lappeenranta, Finland
Event: Kara won the Lappeenranta Games, a small competition in the motherland of javelin throwing, with a 60-meter throw in rainy, fifty-degree weather.
DIAMOND LEAGUE FINAL
Date: August 24, 2017
Location: Zurich, Switzerland
Event: Kara accumulated the necessary points to compete in the season's Diamond League culmination in Zurich, where she finished in seventh with a 61-meter effort.

IAAF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Date: August 6-8, 2017
Location: London, England
Event: The World Championships in Athletics, held every other year, took place in London's 2012 Olympic Stadium. With 61.27m, in Qualifying Group A, Kara missed the final by three spots.
RABAT DIAMOND LEAGUE
Date: July 16, 2017
Location: Rabat, Morocco
Event: In the fourth Diamond League event of the season, Kara placed fifth with 59.94m to collect enough points to qualify for the Zurich Diamond League final on August 24th!
MULLER ANNIVERSARY GAMES

Location: London, England
Event: Kara threw 61.06m for seventh place in the third installment of Diamond League events.
ATHLETISSIMA: LAUSANNE

Location: Lausanne, Switzerland
Event: In the second Diamond League event of the season for women's javelin and in Kara's first European competition of 2017, she placed 8th with an effort of 59.19m.
USATF NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Event: Kara won her 7th national title and earned a spot on Team USA for this year's IAAF World Championships (her fourth World team).

Event: In the first women's javelin Diamond League event of the season, a strong first round effort of 61.66m faded to seventh place in a very competitive field.
PURDUE ALUMNI CLUB OF COLORADO ANNUAL SPRING DINNER

IMG ACADEMY THROWS CHALLENGE

Event: A throw of 61.32m got Kara the victory at this small, fun competition funded by USA Track and Field's high performance division. It's always fun to have a meet with just throwers!
TEXAS INVITATIONAL

Event: In the first week of a training trip to see Coach Ty Sevin, Kara started the true outdoor season with the fifth best throw of her career at 64.80m. A series with some consistency around the 60-meter mark got her and Ty excited about what 2017 could bring.

Event: Kara competed as part of the Team Bolt All Stars in Athletics Australia's debut track and field team-format series. She won the javelin on night one and scored her team valuable bonus points in spearing the target to ultimately help the Bolt All Stars win the three-meet series!
